The musical styles of Mutima are reflective of the band members' diverse cultural backgrounds. Lead singer Wajipha Chongwe (pictured above) was born in Lusaka in Zambia into a family of several cultural, tribal and national identities. The band's co-founder, 5-time WAMI award winner percussionist and drummer Freddy Poncin, was born to a Dutch father and Indonesian mother. According to Drumscene Magazine (2006) he is considered to be one of Australia's finest hand percussionists.

Mutima plays smooth Afro styles, funk, reggae, jazz and groove ballads. Mutima recently released their debut CD Dream Of.

Mutima means "heart" in Nyanja a language spoken in Zambia.

The band consist of Mario Horvat (Croatia) on bass, Mike Gowland (UK) on keys, Peter Zuvela (Croatia) on guitar and vocals, Freddy Poncin (HOL) on drums and percussion, Mark Cain (AU) on Saxophone, Adam Monk (AU) on Percussion and the graceful Wajipha Chongwe ( ZAM) on lead vocals.

All this music has been produced, mixed and recorded at our studio. All footage and editing has been done in house.
